Board of Trustees Approve Revisions to Academic Charter

At its meeting this past Friday (October 14) , the BGSU Board of Trustees approved revisions to the academic charter.   In doing so, the Board of Trustees overrode the decision of the Faculty Senate, which had voted on the revisions at its October 4 meeting.  These revisions allowed for a higher level of faculty consultation but did not restore the faculty authority that had been revoked by the Board of Trustees last December, even in areas not related to collective bargaining.

Once again the Administration and the Board of Trustees have demonstrated that they will change our governing documents unilaterally. Only a Collective Bargaining Agreement that is legally binding on both sides can ensure that faculty voices will be respected.
