BGSU-FA COMMITTEES, SUBCOMMITTEES, & CONTACTS:
Communications Committee: Andy Schocket, andy.schocket@gmail.com
This committee crafts the central messages of the BGSU-FA, including the newsletter and website, as well as position statements and responses to the administration.
Bargaining Council: Rich Anderson, randerson.net@gmail.com
The Bargaining Council researches and writes proposals that the Negotiations Team brings to the table. While the Bargaining Council is an elected body, there are many opportunities to participate in writing and researching proposals through the ad hoc committees associated with the Bargaining Council.
Ad hoc committees are considering a wide range of issues including benefits, salary, NTTF issues, grievance procedures and family issues.
Grievance Committee: Sandra Faulkner, grievance officer
Before a contract is ratified, the BGSU-FA will have a limited role in grievances, however, we are working to put together a grievance committee so that we are up and running when a contract goes into effect.
Faculty mistreatment, discrimination, and wrongful termination are some of the important issues that are part of the grievance committee, as well as ensuring faculty access to a third-party neutral process.
Membership Committee: Hassan Rajaei, hass.rajaei@gmail.com
Strong and active membership means strong bargaining power and strong community. The responsibility of this committee is to grow faculty membership in BGSU-FA/AAUP and to coordinate membership materials, events, and department liaisons.
NTTF Research Subcommittee: Julie Haught, NTTF Representative, julieahaught@gmail.com
As a subcommittee of the Bargaining Research Committee, this group was formed to address the unique employment issues of BGSU’s non-tenure-track faculty by promoting and protecting the rights of instructors, lecturers, and senior lecturers.
Salary Research Subcommittee: David Jackson, jacksod@bgsu.edu
This subcommittee of the Bargaining Council examines Ohio and other states’ collective bargaining contracts regarding the range of salary increases and how they are distributed (i.e., across-the-board v. merit).
